I am new to this site. I was diagnosed last year and was on depakote until 6 months ago. Due to other health reasons and weight gain they changed my meds. They put me on a generic drug and it just does't work as well. My husband is bipolar also and is still taking depakote and has for several years. It works fine for him. Since they have changed mine i have had an manic episode and left my husband moved to another town. At the time it seemed fine but when i came back to earth i realized what i had done. I love the man. I feel as if i am not in control of my life or my mind. I am on meds for depression also. Does this ever get any better or more in control?
