HELP I think my daugther has it !!!

By 2bella Thursday, January 03, 2008
I hope someone can help me. I was diagnosed 4 months ago with bi-polar after several years of bizarre behavior, rages, and ruined relationships. I live in the lower apartment, and my daughter lives upstairs with my grandson age 2, and my grand-daughter age16. First of all my treatment is going well, until recently when as I got better every day I noticed the same behaviours with her.New Years day she flew into a rage (holidays are hard) and I could not believe the things she said..but been there and done that my-self. I talked to her later when things had quieted down, and she admitted to obsessive thoughts (one being how to kill the cat) and not get caught. Swear words in her head, and being afraid she was saying them out loud. ( I had that one also) Gravol to sleep and depression. She has been treated several times for depression but doesn't stay on the meds. Also one suicide attempt about 12 years ago.  This time she agreed she needed to go see the doctor, but has since said it was an anger problem, and she won't go. I have had to up my meds, and now I am not sleeping and I can't get my head to shut up. HELP Bella

Sometimes it takes people awhile to accept this diagnosis.  It's very scary to think you may have something that you'll live with for the rest of your life.

You can give her the information but you can't make her go to the doctor.  Unless, you feel she's become a danger to herself or the kids.  In that case, you could call 911 and have her hospitalized.

As far as your situation goes, treatment is an ongoing process.  If you're having trouble, see your doc to have your meds tweaked a little.

I hope it all goes well for you.  Take care of yourself.
