overactive mind - resulted in an eating disorder

By ANAMIA Friday, March 21, 2008

hello,

LIVE IN A COUNTRY WHERE EATING DISORDERS AND DEPRESSION ARE NOT TREATED SERIOUSLY, THEY ARE SEEN AS A PERSONS SELF-ENDULGENCE AND LACK OF WILL POWER....MY PARENTS ARE TOO INTELLIGENT, EMOTIONAL AND CREATIVE AND HAVE ISSUES WITH FOOD...BUT THEY ARE SUCCESSFULL...SO WHO CARES OUT HERE:(

I DID NOT KNOW I HAD AN OVERACTIVE MIND BEFORE I CAME OVER ONE ARTICLE THIS MORNING...

I AM FED UP WITH MY COMPULSIVE EATING AND HAVE REACHED A STAGE WHERE I CAN NO MORE CARE FOR ANYTHING ELSE RATHER THAN OVERCOMING MY ED. ACTUALLY I HAVE, BY MYSELF RECOVERED FROM ANOREXIA AND THEN BULIMIA. NOW I JUST BINGE AND DIET.

IN EARLIER YEARS I WOULD NOT BOTHER WITH THIS SO MUCH, I STUDIED LIKE A FRICK, ACQUIRED PHD. NOW MY JOB IS NOT A CREATIVE ONE, JUST A 9-18H JOB...AND I FEEL SHARPLY THAT I NEED A COUNSEL, A HELP. IF I GO TO A THERAPIST THIS WOULD BE A LABEL...SHE IS NUTS! AND THIS I THE LEAST I NEED IN MY CARRIER.....

SPEACKING OF A CARRIER....I HAVE EVEN LOST A DEFINITE INTEREST IN ANYTHING...I GET GREAT IDEAS, MY BRAIN STARTS TO CYCLE OR GET DEPRESSED...I STUFF UP MY STOMACK SO I CANT THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE BUT CALORIES I CONSUMED....I WORRY I HAVE GAINED....I PLAN A DIET....I DIET...I GET EXCITED...I STUFF UP MYSELF WITH FOOD......I DIET

A SAD STORY...NOW I KNOW I JUST HAVE AN OVERACTIVE MIND...'JUST'??? YOU WOULD SAY IT IS NOT EASY THO...BUT IT IS A RELIEF TO KNOW WHAT U ARE UP TO. I AM TO TAME MY ENERGY AND CHEER UP MY DEPRESSION...I AM TO USE MY CREATIVITY AGAIN...AS I INTUITIVELY DID IN MY TEENS!!!

I BELIVE BIPOLARS ARE MOST INTERESTING AND CREATIVE PEOPLE

Hi there Anamia,

you will find that it is quite difficult to get a reply from the experts (they probably could not cope with all the emails from the "non experts) " on this webstite but also there are very few consumers who are willing to help. It is a sign of our times where we are all concerned with our "Ego" and have little times for others. It is "I, "myself" and "Me" that count. Everything else is secondary. I see things differently now because I am developiong a social intelligence. I feel part of others and I worry less about my Ego.

You rightly have identified something special and unique about people who suffer from bipolar. It is heart intelligence or the ability to think qwith one's heart. And I mean this in the literal sense since scientists have discovered that the heart has an inbuilt brain which functions in a much more advanced manner than our brain in our head.

It sound like science fiction but it is science reality. I will include a post today with the stuff on the heart intelligence. This is what is unique about people who suffer from bipolar to be in touch with our heart intelligence. In our world where money and greed rules we have forgot how to communicate with our heart. But in a near future this may be practiced again.

Alfredo,

The experts here post a lot of information about many facets of bipolar and if you want an answer to something, it would be helpful to post a response to one of those articles. If you are looking for information that has not been posted, then post a sharepost and someone will try to point you in the best direction.

These online forums however, do not take the place of your doctors advice. Only your doctor knows what is best for you and your care.

As far as the "heart brain" In all the reading on this site, I have yet to come across with anything about that. Can you write more about that phenomena?

Thanks much!!

Dear Viki M,

there are a few documentaries on heart transplant and on the brain in the heart. I am personallly involved in deep discussions with heart surgeons, doctors and specialists regarding the brain in the heart. You can find some information about neuroscientists here:

http://www.therealessentials.com/followyourheart.html

http://www.heartmath.org/research/our-heart-brain.html

As far as myself I have a psychiatrist and a psychologists and not only I get professional help from them but I also help them with providing information about my studies.  I am in touch with over 800 consumers from all over the world and I write back to all of these people. This means wiritng some nights non stop. It is part of my studies. I help consumers sometimes with advice because I have studied six years of psychology, seven years of anthropolgoy and four years of sociology at a honours level.

My English is a second language to me so that it is limited but my knowledge is  vast.

As far as heart intelligence scientists are trying to stay away from these discoveries because the  medical world would be affected if all of this was to surface suddenly now. For example if all this is true then medication should take into consideration not only the brain when it comes to providing medication for mental disorders but also the heart.

The heart suffers the most when a person becomes depressed. As a matter of fact during severe depression there is a high risk of heart attack more so then if the patient was to suffer from hypertension rather than depression. And in schitzophrenia the heart functions can change due to stress and fear.

In the future mental health will consider both brain and heart but mostly the heart. It would come as a shock to know that medication is highly inappropriate for depression today. It simply cannot work well. This is because it is the brain in the heart that becomes unwell rather than the head. We are only masking the problems with medications and sometimes the side effects have disasterous consequences.

Thank you for your concern but I must assure that I am well now. I like this website very much indeed. As a matter of fact I think that it is the most adequate website for people who suffer from bipolar. Do not take my criticism about the "expert" serious. I will try not to include such criticism again.

I just wrote a few times to some experts asking for an opinion on the heart intelligence bit as part of my research and got no reply. But I suppose that there are many resons for this. Some may feel that they do not know enough about this particular area and some may see me as a serious "nut" for even thinking about the possibility that the heart is intelligent. But if you do some research you will find that what I said is true scientists are concerned about these discoveries because if the heart can truly think independently then we have created a social world that is sick and alienated from their own heart intelligence. There are likely to be many consequences that derive from this.

I also got in touch with some experts to inform them that Epilum or sodium valporate that is one of the most effective drugs to control bipolar. It is mostly used for epilepsy but it works wonderful for bipolar as well. It has very few sides effects and is a very good sleeping drug. I do not understand why there are so few people on it. It is the best drug by far according to my wife and many other sufferers from around the world. I better stop here now.

I understand, however, that experts cannot answers to all consumers all of the time.

All the best and thanks for you email.

Hi Anamia,

You've come to a great place where there are many people who have lived the same things you have and they have great advice to help you get through the day.

However online is not a replacement for your doctors advice. I have some links to information here that will help you gather your thoughts and ask all the right questions of your doctor when you see him/her. Together you can devise a plan to manage your care.

First, here is an overview of bipolar disorder. Here you can read a little about what being bipolar means to you and your friends and family. Here are the symptoms commonly associated with being bipolar. If you were seeing your doctor and he prescribed medication, you can read here about the different medicines prescribed to control bipolar disorder. Here is the treatments database, to read about the latest and current treatments for bipolar disorder.

I know you think you will be labeled but that should not keep you from getting something to help you get through the dark times. What happens between you and your doctor is between you and your doctor. There is a long discussion about people who were afraid to seek help when they were in college because the colleges were unaccepting of anything that could be construed as a mental deficiency. (including eating disorders, bipolar and depression)  The article is located here, but the discussions in the comments section are good reading.

I hope you find something of interest in this information. Please don't lose hope and don't give up. Many people are living with bipolar disorder and to some extent it can be controlled. Also, there is a huge community here for you if you need us. Just let us know how you are doing and what we can do to help.

Take care and be well!

Vicki M
