Check out HR 676: Health Care as a Right Not a Privalege

By tashah Wednesday, January 02, 2008

Hello everyone,

I was just writing to bring attention to a bill that will be going through Congress this year.  A bill that I believe will re-vitalize our failing health care system.  We have fallen woefully behind in health care affordability and accessibility compared to many other industrialized nations.  I know that many of us have felt and seen the crippling effect of medical costs, not only for the poor and uninsured but also for the "safely" insured working and middle class.

Please look up HR 676.  If you believe that all human beings deserve access to physical and mental health care then I hope you will support the effort to make this bill a reality for ourselves and the American people.  I found hr676.org to be informative, although it is certainly a website that is a supporter of the bill and therefore I assume carries some bias.

I know I am tired of worrying about monsterous hospital bills and the price of seemingly simple things like my asthma medication.  I am glad I have government sponsored fire departments, education systems, and libraries that provides services to all, not just those with "fire insurance".  I am ready for one of the greatest and wealthiest nations in the world to catch up with our European partners and create the universal public health care system that American workers deserve as much as those in France, Britain,Sweden, Japan... the list goes on.

Can't wait to hear what you all think.  Imagine the difference something like this could make in your own personal life as well as the lives of others...

I understand the appeal of "socialized" medicine, however I saw a show a few years ago that showed people in Canada who actually died waiting for surgeries and I was glad to live here.  Yes our costs are out of control.  Insurance companies keep driving rates up.  I wish there was a happy medium (affordable and timely medical care).
