Drug companies are totally wrong!

By czm Tuesday, April 20, 2010

sorry but I need to vent.  I make around $800/month and am a full time student.  my insurance is through the university but their drug plan doesn't cover geodon.  so, I applied for the pfizer connection to care program and was DENIED because my insurance DOESN"T cover it!!  their rationale is that if I had a huge co-pay, they would help me out with free drugs but since I have to pay 100%, they won't.  I don't get it.  Also, if I quit work, dropped my student health insurance and became indigent, they would help then.  I guess being a responsible citizen is not appreciated.  Paying $250/month for geodon from my salary bankrupts me.  Not sure what to do now.

You can apply for medicaid through your local public welfare office. You have to let them know that you need health sustaining medication for your condition. They cannot turn you down. It's a valid disability and requires medication. I was denied at first application because I didn't know that mental illness is covered the same way as a physical ailment. If you have to under-report your income then do so. Do what you have to do to survive.
