Life After the Bipolar Diagnosis

By Christian Wade Thursday, May 15, 2008

I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder almost two years ago. I went through irrational periods while I was adjusting to my medication. I felt like I was in a fog and was easily confused. Well I have adjusted to my medication and am seeing a psychotherapist and an occupational therapist. This has done wonders for me. I now have a steady job for the first time in five years and my self esteem is much better. I now volunteer for a warmline called Compassionate Ear where people not in crisis can call and have someone to talk to. I enjoy my job and volunteer experience and I look forward to each and every day. My husband has been very supportive of me and my cats have been wonderful.

It's always nice to hear the good stories.  Unfortunately, most of us only post when things are rough.  Good job getting through.  Take care.

Like you, I am very fortunate to have a husband who understands (and 2 loving cats!).  I am adjusting well to my medication and finally know why sometimes I feel so crazy.  I'm just glad to know there is help for this horrible disease and I'm not alone.
