One day i was sitting arund the house when i started to wonder why can't a person like me bring awareness to the condition that so many people suffer from. I thought that they have aids walks and walks for cancer but nobody has ever said walk to support bi-polar research or support or just raise awareness people need to know that they are not alone and that there is nothing to be ashamed of. it is a condition like any other that more people need to be aware of . there are to many people in the world afraid of this condition and io think that if more people were aware and supported it that it would make the world for manic people a better place to live . if you have any insight on how to get this started please let me know . this is something i really feel passionate about

What a great idea! Find out where your closes bipolar support group is. I am getting ready to go to my first one next monday. And I will be sure to bring this subject up. We really need to bring this out in the open. Sure they have this really lame commercial out about Bipolar...but they make it sound like if you take this magic pill ( I forget which one), it will suddenly go away. Thanks for bringing up this idea!
Marie,
I believe you are thinking about the Abilify commercial. And don't you think it is interesting that some of the commercials for medications for depression, make depression sound like just another illness that should be accepted fully by the general public, almost as if it is not a mental disorder and should not carry any stigma. Now if they would do that for all mental illnesses, it would be great.
actually i was thinkin that i live in north carolina and there is only one support group here and thats in charlotte. not very many people understand a bi-polar person and a lot of people have the wrong impression of what we should look like and the lives we live . its hardly ever brought up , people are afraid of something they know nothing about and i feel that the only people who can shed light on it is us.
