Grr. One of the problems I am having with bp is I cannot hear. Or rather, I passed my hearing test with flying colors but it caused some auditory hallucinations. I have to literally read people's lips and facial expressions nowadays to remotely understand what the conversation is about. The phone is next to useless to me. I hear words, but they are garbled and I don't catch on. Soooo, I do the next best thing; write. I can email, IM, faxes, postcard- writing works. AND I can take my time and recheck my work so that I can avoid any unwanted words that may have slipped in due to emotional response.
With this in mind...
I called my doc a few months ago. Left a few messages. No call backs. Tried a fax or two (well, the same fax two different times) and explained that I couldn't hear and could I please make an appointment soon. No reply. Mailed a letter, complete with updates on my mental state, concerns I had about my meds, etc., and still nothing. Like I don't exist. For being nonexistant, I sure am irritated and paranoid that my doc is avoiding me. Sadly, my doc is not a talk-a-lot doc. I only see my doc a handful of times a year. I really need a doc to work on my meds AND someone to talk to, especially now.
Has anyone been in this situation? Ever feel like Doc made like a banana and split? What kind of doc do I need that will medicate and meditate with me? Am I looking for just a psych or is there another lable I need to look into? Anyone? Anybody? Help?

some offices close
some docs leave
have you gone by the actual office and checked to see if doc is still actually practicing at that location?
Morning, tabby.
Had a bit of a freak out over the phone with the machine (a touch humiliating) and the phone rang five hours later... with an actual person on the other end! Not the doc, but the doc's secretary is a fine substitute. I am so relieved; I only have to wait two weeks to see Doc instead of three months. yay <3
