Pnurse v. pdoc

By polarizedwriter Friday, April 03, 2009

Hi everyone,

I thought I would introduce myself with a question. My previous pdoc has retired. He recogmended a psychiatric clinic. I called randomly and got pnurse. So far I am happy. We all know that it can take a while to figure out if it's a good fit or not. Usually that figuring out happens after a servere episode during off hours.

So anyone else have a nurse practioner.

I had one once at a clinic that took my insurance, when I had insurance.

I liked her pretty well and in fact, I found our interaction much more productive than the interaction I had with her Psychiatrist supervisor.  Still, they do have supervising psychiatrists or should have one, that they run everything by.

Reason why I eventually got turned over to the actual psychiatrist is because my situation was more complicated than the PNP was comfortable in and the psychiatrist thought it best if she directly handled my case.  Like I said though, I did better communicating with the PNP because of her demeanor and attitude than I did with the actual doc.

Over half a dozen pdoc for me before the one that retired.

And you know, now that you mentioned it I feel the same.
