I guess this is really any Bipolar sufferer traveling to a new place, any place/country.
I did find http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_Psychiatric_Association_of_Russia which looks promising.
I'm considering going to Russia for two weeks. One week in St. Petersburg and another week in Moscow. I will be with friends, one (best friend) who speaks expert Russian, and another who is a local/lives in Russia. Me & my best friend have traveled before, to Prague - and on a ski trip to Colorado - both times with out any Bipolar incident(s). About 8 people in the group. I know all of them, but am not that tight with them.
Being bipolar, I want to be prepared, in case I go manic.
Is anyone familiar how to hook up with resources (psych er, psychiatrists) in Russia?
I'm lazy, I googled some. But, I never ask anything of this "Bipolar Connect" website, so this seems like a good/valid request.
I have an appointment with my psychiatrist tomorrow and I'll ask for opinions, alternatives, extra precautions, etc. I'm taking Lamictal/Geodone - extra precaution would be to bring a *just in case* bottle of Seroquel to punch me down from a manic state. I've never gotten truly depressed - that's not my issue. I'm usually mildly depressed with manic poping up every two to three years, which involves a hospitalization. I was recently hospitalized in August, so hopefully I've got two years before the next hospitalization.
Bottom line, I don't want to pick the default *psych ER* in a foreign country, should something BAD happen in Russia. I probably should not go, but St Petersburg is on my top10 places I've always wanted to go. And, I will be with friends who know I'm Bipolar and know I don't drink and that I MUST get my sleep. These are friends I'm comfortable with.
