One theory of bipolar disorder states that rather than simply consisting of just one or two types of illness (bipolar I and bipolar II), there is in fact a whole spectrum comprising lesser variants of the illness. In practice, this spectrum can be invoked to diagnose bipolar symptoms in people that li...

Do you feel marijuana can play a role in developing Bipolar?

First about 4 yrs. ago my psychiatrist, told me no.  Maybe that's what I wanted to hear.  Because if it does I regret what I've done in the past.  But if it does, I would be interested to know.

Now, my Dr. says it could contribute.  He says no one is really sure.

I would appreciate some feedback.

Thank you kindly,

Matt

I too in the past took mja. and wondered the same thing you are talking about

I had used it to aid me with lack of appetite, my doctor too, said this could not cause B/P but one thing I know for absolutley true "DO NOT EVER NEVER GO OFF YOUR MEDICATION " I don't care how well you feel. I made this mistake now 2 times and it is the absolute worse, treat your meds. like insulin for diabeties

it does not matter how great you begin to feel.

The mind is tricky and just like when you feel well after being on anti-biotics from an infection, the illness recures with a punch so big you wish it was a cancer that could just be cut out, but remember it can't be, but it can be maintained

You do not ever want to leave treatment as it seems twice as hard to get back on track please "DO NOT" ever put yourself through this, make sure you make a promise to your self and all those who love you, and I would stay clear from any out side mediactions except for those that have been prescribed to you by your doctor .... I have suffered for years , and have bounced back several times and hope I soon will feel some relief , it seems to take longer  ,when you go off because you think you are feeling better , it is a trick so "DONOT"  I say once again QUIT treatment, my doctor said if i ever do this again she will not be my doctor and I guess this is what it took, a threat , as no other doctor said this to me

"WAKE UP CALL" i don't know how old you are but I am in my 50's so make sure you do not allow your friends or family to tell you "YOUR BETTER NOW" so you don't need your meds. or doctor..... no there is NO better only management

once you get better, never self-medicate, outside of your prescribed Rx

you will be more than sorry , please learn from me please please please!!!

I hope this helped some , I wish someone would have done this for me!
