Yesterday I posted what I was doing with Coenzyme Q10 as an alternative treatment to Lithium.  After reducing the Lithium dose and raising the dose of CoQ10 I experienced initially severe mood oscillations which mostly died down.  Today I experienced a bit of a high in the morning, followed by an absolutely normal rest of day.  My memory is imperfect on this, but I think when I first experimented with the supplement I discovered this happens if you use too much. I have reduced the dose from 100 mg to 50 mg today.  I find generally that the effect of the supplement is most obvious after one sleep cycle.  I probably will see the results tomorrow.  In any case, the high wasn't bad and it sure beats the depression I usually experience when I have active cycling.  I find that CoQ10 builds up a bit over time so that you need less as time passes.  There is also a phenomenon known as restless sleep if you take too much.  For me this tends to occur at doses exceeding 100 mg.  The reason I used high doses initially was because the initial cycles included substantial depression.  If you take enough CoQ10 you can get modest relief even within an hour.  The amount you have to take is variable.  In the end, it's all about being a Guinea Pig.  I will post more notes as my experiment progresses.
