Thursday, August 07, 2008 at 07:35 AMDon't give up on the medical profession. There is a dr. out there for you and keep looking. I understand about the bank acct. too. As far as your wife, she may never understand, but she is not the one who needs immediate help. It is you and that is what is important. At this point, the issue at hand doesn't sound like your spouses support or approval-it is saving your own @*!?. Fear will paralyze, action, even if it's a little baby step will help.
Take care

Tuesday, September 02, 2008 at 03:11 PMThanks.
I'm really trying to hold on. But, the feeling of sliding into the darkness of "the pit" is so overwhelming, it seems I can't function at times. It's a compelling option that all the pain could be over, but I still know that's the lie. I guess there is still something to be said for staying on this side of the river. I feel so deathly afraid that, if I lose control...if I don't pull out of this tailspin, everything would be lost.
I am taking a baby step (at least it feels that way) - I am seeing my MD in about 2 hours to see if he'll put me back on the Celexa I was taking about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago.
Will the help come soon enough? Who knows?

GBB...Welcome to BPConnect - it's always great to see newcomers.
Mild bipolar is not so different from depression. Difference is that one can experience hypomania, or mild manic episodes. Doctors often have trouble distinguishing one from the other. Main difference is in medications to treat bipolar2. That would be mood stabilizers vs. antidepressants, or sometimes both are used.
Your family physician may be able to treat you, or you may want to see a therapist or psychiatric doctor. Don't know if you are doing so already.
The bipolar diagnosis can be rather scary when you are new to it, but overall it's just another label. Tell your wife not to worry. Read some books on bipolar - that should help. Good Luck.
