Left Brain Right Brain

By HeyJude Friday, June 27, 2008

Yesterday on the local news, the discussion was about the brain and it's two hemispheres.  Did you know that the brain has 100 billion cells - and that scientists and biologists, are still in the dark about many of its basic intracies?

It reminded me of a website that I shared with my support group a few years back.  It involves a fun, simple exercise to determine left-brain right-brain activity and preference.

I believe bipolars have sensitivity to left-brain right-brain activity, and that during depression or hypomania, opposite hemispheres become more active and dominant.  Can't say  for sure, it's just my personal opinion based on my own experience.

Check out the site.  It's pretty fun.  The address is too long to post, so I'll do it this way:

Funny, since I have been properly treated for Bipolar, my reading & comprehension has improved so much and my creativity has increased dramatically, too.  So much that my previous left-brain strengths with number crunching (I'm an accountant) has now been overshadowed.  Maybe it's time for a career change!

Sharon...With your newly discovered right brain skills, maybe you should become a therapist or a psych doctor. Smile  I'm a little stronger in the left hemisphere most of the time, but overall for me it's a pretty even balance.  Need to develop the creative side more.  Thanks for responding.
