Lexapro?

By mkoch555 Friday, April 06, 2007

Has anyone had any experience weening OFF LExapro, I read on blogs that it can be a disastrous Withdrawal.  If anyone has any knowledge on this topic I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I weaned off of Lexapro about 4 months ago, and it wasn't much different than other weanings I've gone through.  I went from 20mg to 10 to 5 over the course of a couple of weeks while transitioning to Wellbutrin.  My withdrawl symptoms always seem to be a tingling in my lips, teeth, gums, and tongue.  The general tingling disappeared after a few weeks, but oddly, certain sounds will trigger it . . . even now.  But again, this is common to all of my withdrawls.  I had previously dropped Effexor cold turkey a couple of years ago and that was a nighmare; I would never recommend going cold turkey to anyone.  For me, dropping Lexapro was no big deal.
I suppose I should mention that I'd only been taking it for about 6 months . . . maybe less, so depending on how long you've been taking it, your mileage may vary.  Good luck!

In July I thought this would be no problem for me to wean myself of lexapro starting gradually from 20mg to 10mg didn't feel any physical side effects, but had a compulsive problem stealing and was arrested, this has been a nightmare beyond belief......so I have started Lexapro 10 again as much as I didn't relize this was doing anything from the beginning, but I guess it was controling some implusive behavior... Bests of luck to you!!!  You sure don't want to have this sort of problem along with all the other problems conected with this diaorder!
