We have deer in our back yard all the time... don't worry about the game, I'm sure the deer will avoid the kids.
I thought it was funny what you said about the reading marathon. That's one of the ways I can gauge where I'm at on the scale -- by how many books I've completed in a night! The librarians must think I'm full of crap because I return 5 hardcovers the day after I check them out. They have no idea!
I have to admit, it's a handy thing for while I'm in school.
