It’s because if he is in true mania he is on a different wave length and isn’t listening to what you say. His mind is racing and being flooded with thoughts that he is unable to grasp because they come in and out so fast.
Now going in and out of psychosis…the person will have pretty much no recall of the events that took place in psychosis.
During mania a person can keep flipping in and out and will not remember what you said until back in the state that you said it.
It’s hard to explain but I am going to give it a try…think of it as two different Medias, a floppy disc and a DVD. The floppy has a readable format that the computer can interpret as well as the DVD.
The thing is that even though they are both readable, they are running at two different speeds and formats. The DVD is psychosis and runs at a much faster speed and is unreadable using the floppy disc format.
When the person drops back down from psychosis, they can’t interpret what’s on the DVD because they are now running at the floppy disc speed. When they flip back into psychosis…they will have total recall because they are now running at a higher speed and can read and remember what is on the DVD.
It’s almost like two different people but it’s only one in serious trouble that you need to get proper help for...you can't handle this alone. I hope that helped.
