hi all ! i too took geodon for a very short period of time, the side effects were awful and the heart palpataions were scary. i am back taking abilify for racing thoughts and the 'unquiet mind', and feel much better. i take 100 mgs in the morning and my mind is clear for the day. i do not take at night, hard to go to sleep with it. i feel much better.
My son was diagnoised with bi-polar by a doctor. Geodon was prescribed. He began having seizures. His eyes would roll back in his head, his neck would involuntarily draw to the left. His total loss of muscle control in his head and neck as very painful. He cried, thought he was going crazy, and his mouth drew involuntarily together. This is a horrible drug with painful and awlful side effects. I would discourage anyone from taking this drug.
Two days of trying a new medication is too soon to see if it’s working and its weeks before you will actually see any results. I’m not for or against geoden but I do know that it takes more than two days to get through what I call the honeymoon period of your body getting adjusted to it.
The company that makes the medication says on the warning or side effects label that you may have narcoleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) if you experience a high fever, stiff muscles, shaking, confusion, sweating or increased heart rate and blood pressure.
What I will add is that every medication out there affects each of us differently. Medication X may be the new wonder drug and work well for me and have little to no results for you. The key is being open and honest with your pdoc to find the nest combinations.
