Bi-polar interrelated with Borderline Personality and PET Scans???

By Carl L Monday, August 13, 2007

Wink Dear Post,

I learned that on a lot of occasions, not all, but a lot of us that have bi-polar also have some type of a personality disorder.  I was told that from a Dr. anyway.  And I wonder are the two inter-related somehow?  And I also was told that with the Borderline Personality Disorder, that the Limbic System is made up a little different than others'.  So with Bi-polar disorder and the Borderline Personality Disorder, which is pretty close to saying, co-dependant, I wonder if a type of surgical procedure can be done on the brain, or limbic system or area 25 of the brain or frontal lobes or pre-frontal cortex or any other area to maybe help these disorders?   And also would a PET Scan help come up with some help for treatment with bi-polar?  Thanks.
