Kudos to you for learning the lessons you have. My parents could learn a thing or two from you. Are there any certain things that helped open your eyes that I could send their way?

It was the realization that he wasn't disabled. He is who he is and the bipolar is just a small part. He's being treated for that and I realized that some of it was just pure lack of confidence and the fact that he'd been babied and protected his whole life. It was also an experiment. I left him on his own to do his math and started to realize that he can do it without me. Once I got firm and said to him that it's his homework not mine and completely stayed out of it, he amazed me by pulling it together and taking care of it on his own.
