A Weird Kind of Depression

By Marcia Purse, Health Guide Sunday, October 31, 2010
Does anyone else go through periods like this - where you're acting depressed but don't feel depressed?   I've been quiet for most of the last two months because I've been struggling quite a bit. It started with an injury on September 9th - I had a bad fall that broke a couple of small bones i...

Marcia,

I think sometimes we get so hung up on a diagnosis or something to explain why...

Just be.

A physical injury takes a lot more time to heal from than we give ourselves permission for. Quietness is ok. If you're sleeping more...you need more sleep. Listening to the voice of your body is what you're doing. I wouldn't read into it anymore than that. (but I know, it's what we tend to do best!...analyze, speculate, intellectualize, figure out).

Sometimes it is what it is and that's it.

You are doing things you like and are finding pleasure in them. Woo Hoo!

God Bless,

Shelly

Yes, i have felt like that sorta. i have been depressed but had no reason. I would do a ckeck list and everything would be ok. So I would just have to accept I was depressed and know it would go away in it's own time. Right now I have a lot of reasons to be depressed and i am.

Good luck,

Marcia

sometimes I think the body just instinctively knows to kind of go into a "depressed" state when it is injured and trying to heal itself

if you sleep more, move less, and take it gentle for a while... you tend to recover more fully than if you push yourself, stay up longer, and rush more

also... if you've been prescribed even a mild pain killer for the broken bones (which you may or may not have, you didn't mention)... this could also be a reason or a contributor to your depression without a reason

also... it's Fall and the days are shorter so... you got broken bones, soreness, and the days getting shorter

just don't over analyze and let your body heal... it will tell you when it's done, if you'll just listen to it

I am going through some thing similar at the moment, I just sleep and when I 'm awake and have energy, I do what i can especially the things I enjoy doing.

What gets me down more is the paranoid thoughts about what others especially my partner, is thinking about my behaviour. I think it really has more to do with what I'm thinking as I feel every one thinks I'm being lazy.

On the whole I just get my head down and just keep peddaling till I get to the other side of it.
