Finding the right combination of medications to treat our bipolar disorder is the first line of treatment, and often the best hope of continued good functioning. Since chemical and electrical changes in our brains cause our bipolar symptoms, changing these chemical states can provide a solution.

Just yesterday i headed off depression by changing my thinking.  My husband and I got in a small argument.  I drove to the store and heard a guy singing about a girl's beautiful eyes.  I thought, I wish my husband thought that way about me.  Then, pow! I realized he does think that way about me, every day, all the time.  i cried and had a great day- I'm still happy.  I also realized EVERYTIME we have argued I believed his love had ended and I would be abandoned even if it was in a subconscious way.  No wonder I was depressed most of time. sigh.

Wow, that's such a great example of how changing our thinking can prevent depression!  Thanks for sharing it here.
