Thank you for your post on Vonnegut. I am an admirer of his path-breaking writing, but did not know about his struggle with depression.

 

It is important to be reminded that persons with mental illness can be productive or even prominent members of society despite their struggles; and of the creativity (be it artistic, musical, literary, ...) exhibited by many people who have had to fight through depression, bipolar disorder, or other similar disorders.

I agree with and enjoyed very much what you wrote, and I'll add this.  He was a skeptic, but he had what could almost be considered an absurd optimism, especially given his writing style. 

I'm glad to see so many Vonnegut fans!
