Last few days, I had the bright idea to not take my Zyprexa, thinking there was no longer any threat of mania in the dead of winter. I had managed to be off of it for 3 months last winter, relying on only my Lamictal and Prozac to sustain me - it had worked very well and it was so nice having a break from the sluggishness and weight gain caused by Zyprexa (especially during the holidays). Well, this time around, although my moods stayed even, I wasn't getting very good sleep; I could sleep, but it was very light & I would wake up a few times each night. I just kept thinking that if I'm tired enough, I'll sleep better the next night. It never happened, and I ended up having to take the Zyprexa again, to help me sleep. Doing a lot better now, 2 days later - what a relief! Apparently, Zyprexa and Prozac work together synergistically, and this is true for me. There is already a single drug made up of this combo, called Symbyax - though taking the 2 seperate drugs allows you to tailor it to your own needs, since most people need only a smaller portion of Zyprexa (I only need 2 mg).  Anyways, I have a renewed respect for Zyprexa, now.
