Thanks for the great information Su,
My daughter showed signs of depression when she was 11. I took her to the doc, counselling, specialist etc etc I know that Zoloft works beautifully for me, my brother and my niece.Whatever it is in our family that seems to be the drug which works best. I was wondering what was so difficult about giving it to her.... anyway we painfully suffered on. Now she is almost 16, if she has another bout I am going to be insistant....no one should have to suffer if there is something which will help. I will also pass the info to a friend whose some has been diagnosed with ADHD and now as a teenager he not responding to Ritalin...I suspect maybe BP but they need a proper diagnosis. USA is ahead of Australia in this. Heaps of kids here are put on Ritalin for ADHD......I have not heard of one diagnosis of a child as having bipolar yet.We really need to look into this. Thanks again.PS I'm glad you are getting better.R

I really don't know what the answer is. My son can't function in school without ADHD meds but they caused the bipolar symptoms to appear earlier than they would've otherwise.
All we can do is the best we can with what we know.
