Hey,
Been lurking and reading for a really long time now; finally time to share. Recently we lost our health insurance and have in the past six months been unsuccessful in finding a new provider. Not such a big deal for me, but I need to have my children insured.
Biggest obstacle is not bipolar, rather, symptoms caused by medications used to treat it.
Won't go into every combination I have tried as I have been somewhat med resistant - but some of them have shot my cholesterol up (333), and a somewhat recent visit to Lithium toxicity world (the best med I had ever taken), left me with a really screwy blood panel. In short, I have approximately 1/3 of the red blood cells that an average human has, however the cell size is roughly 3 times normal - thus no volume deficiency.
Still, this is worry enough for insurance companies to drop me like a hot rock!
I was even sent to an oncologist, for leukemia screening, as a result of the blood work. Hematologists, find no problem with the condition; however have expressed interest in studying the occurrence.
I suppose my question is simple - surely I am not the only one to have experienced something similar and would welcome feedback if you have or know of someone who has.
Not sure if it's appropriate, but you can contact me directly at shannon@shannonallenonline.com or I will continue to check in here.
Thanks,
Shannon
