Doors and Hallways...

By Gen Tuesday, June 26, 2007
life is a hallway that is full of doors. the doors may be of different shapes, sizes and colors but they still serve the exact same purpose - to take you somewhere. and each door you open, regardless of it's outward appearance, takes you to a new hallway that is full of a brand new set of doors. life is an ever changing, ever evolving experience.

you may pick a door that looks like one you have opened in the past because all other doors frighten you. you may even pick a door because it's something you've never seen before and you're intrigued. either way you're picking a door and you're going somewhere. one door you pick may lead you to a hallway that is hauntingly familiar, yet full of doors you've never encountered. another door may take you to a hallway that is foreign and anxiety provoking...and that hallway may just contain doors that will provide you with the most comfort.

here's the funny part about life: you never know if a door you open is going to take you forward or backward. you may open a brand new door that takes you to a hallway you've already visited. you may open a door you've already visited and find a hallway that is brand new. again, an ever evolving experience.

at the time there's a purpose why doors are opened and doors are closed. people rarely ever understand that reason right off of the bat...but for those who choose to see it later, it sheds a whole new light on things. it leads you to the right doors with the right hallways, armed with knowledge that should no longer frighten you. and no matter how heavy the door, that new light tends to give you the strength to push it open.

Your posts are really inspirational especially about bipolar being a roommate. I am turning thirty and this is the second real year of my diagnosis, so it's hard because I feel like if I had started my early twenties with a diagnosis I would be together by now. But anyways thanks for posting.
