Tuesday, February 03, 2009 at 11:48 AMHello There, I feel for you as I am experiencing some of the same feelings...but not all. I am 48 and going through menopause, so I get the hormone part of what your going through. Though you are pregnant are you happy to be pregnant? Is this your first child? That could play a role in your time of need. Plus you need to be prepared for post part um depression.
I just sign up for an outpatient program that is five days a week 9 - 2 PM at a Hospital in CT. They have a three day program if you can't commit to the five days. When you are doing better they do put you in a 3 day program. No longer than 6 - 8 weeks...They said it could be 3 weeks. I have been to a couple of these programs in my life time and it always helps me. I get to talk to many people so I don't feel alone. That I am with normal people who have the same problems I do, so they know what I might be feeling and have great suggestions. I can always give ideas too. I will have a new psych Dr. checking my med's. I have one on one time as well. Plus I can see my personal therapist, but she is having a baby too and well I won't be able to see her for a month or so. So she really wanted me to go into the program.
I am on Lamictal for the suicide thoughts. Cymbalta for antidepressant, Trazadone for sleep, and Colonapin for anxiety. I know there are safe drugs to take during your pregnancy, but don't know what they are. I was always worried if my daughter got pregnant and would be able to be still on something...but that won't happen for a long time.
Going to an in house program will motivate you not to be in bed so much. Talking and learning new coping methods will help you as well. For now and for the future when you start feeling bad again.
I was on a manic stage which was for the first time in seven years for 8 months and felt great. I did not want to play with my med's as this was great for me. BUT, the Bi Polar signs came out in a more aggressive way and I was not sleeping. So they cut back my med's...AT CHRISTMAS TIME...Which is the hardest time for me and the winter months as well....They put me back on my regular dose as I crashing big time. But I am not feeling good on the higher dose of med's..and I am angry.
If you need to talk...My email address is Diamondsib@aol.com.
I will be your sounding board if you want.
If not....Look into a program who can help you.
Best of Luck

Tuesday, February 03, 2009 at 01:14 PMI wish there was an easy answer to your troubles but there is a light at the end of the tunnel! just remember everything you feel your baby feels, that is a insparation for you to feel better! It aint easy being bipolar no is going through the highs and the crashes of it, my poor wife went through pure hell with me and we're still together by the grace of GOD and we're still rebuilding but don't ever feel like you're a waste because you just might help someone and pull them out of something like you're going through now. By your expierence in the past and present you can touch people in such a positive way you can only imagine! Just get the right meds to help you and you will pull through with flying colors but most of all you have the best support group here on this sight because we all have bipolar and help each other out and under stand. Remember you're to blessed to be depressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you should talk with your pdoc, sounds like you need different meds, if that dont work consider changing docs trying someone new if the current one dont help you, though your going thru a cycle you should still find some relief with the proper meds. It took me 3 different doctors before i found a good one that helped.
