We all have our times where we get irritated and "snap" a little bit so to speak.  For us bipolar people this snap tends to happen a little more often.  But that's ok, it just means we are passionate about the subject at hand.  Sometimes though, it is not a good situation to be snap...

While not bipolar, I do tend to be a little passionate in some discussions.  I learned a long time ago that walking away does prevent things from getting way out of hand.  When fighting with my daughter, I do this quite a bit. As much as it upsets her, I know it would be worse if I uttered the words that almost seem to spill out in times like that.  I think we all have to use the coping strategies that we have and do our best to salvage relationships when we can.  It's better to apologize for walking away then to actually say the stuff we're thinking at that moment.

Damn good advise....wish I read this yesterday afternoon.  I could have prevented a really ugly situation which I instigated and allowed to escalate last night.  I often use the "stop, drop (into a chair) and breathe" technique b/c I am very emotional but your advice may be a better alternative for me ... walk away, (stop, drop and breathe), clear my thoughts and then return.  Many thanks!
