Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 07:57 AMThere is such a thing as Adult ADD/Adult ADHD and docs are treating adults for it. So, if he isn't able to take Ritalin now that he is nearer to 30 - there may be some other meds a doc can prescribe to assist.
Course, that would mean he'd have to go to a doc and be re-evaluated. In being re-evaluated, the doc might want to prescribe something different and then again not.. who knows?
He doesn't know, cause as you said... "he doesn't wanna take medicine".
As long as he doesn't want to, he won't. You can't make him. He has to decide to go to the doc and seek assistance for himself.

Just like the previous comment..if your man doesnt want to do anything their is really not much you can do. Except love unconditionally, be patient, and try to not to let his roller coaster world take away from the feelings you have for him. BUT always remember not to allow this condition to tear you down inside. Somethings we cant control in others and this is just one. Being out of control makes people upset and having to take meds to feel better can really make people angry at times inside because you know your not "normal" and it you feel powerless because you have no control over yourselve. All you can do is be their. But remember never let yourselve take the blame or take it personally that he doesnt want to take meds..it is just very hard for some to take in physically and mentally too..remember some people still live in a world of denial and pain with everybody else along for the ride. Hope this helped

Hi Teen,
I am proud of you... you have been such a good companion to your boy friend for years. Not many we can find, nowadays, a girl like you, you really want to be with him in good time and sickness. It is really a pure love.
Well, to tell you the truth, there is nothing you can do to help him or push him to go and see a p-doc. This illness needs self-consciousness, self-motivation and other things involve "self". As long as he doesnt want to do it for himself, nothing you can do for him. Your advices would go in from one ear and out to the other's.
I have a 16-yr0old son who just get Bp too last year. It is very difficult to make him understand that he needs help, especially therapy. He just need to take med and med, doesnt want to get exercises, and eat health food. As we all know, medication doesnt help. Exercises do. Becuase they will stimulate and activate the brain.
Afterall, co not discourage... keep up the good work....you are going to need alot of patience.
