Ms. Confusion/Does it get better?

By LifeontheIsland Thursday, November 06, 2008

Lately I am very confused. I can't keep track of what days are what, I seem to skip days, and think that yesterday was 2 days ago, or visa versa. I even missed an appt with my psych and now I have to pay $50!

I can't seem to form cognitive thoughts sometimes, although I am doing so right now - it feels like I am floating somewhere above myself. All I want to do is sleep, but I can't sleep at night. Nighttime is when my anxiety goes up.

I try to keep busy with projects, but have trouble completeing them. It's like I lose my confidence.

I feel so stupid about missing that appt and having to pay $50.

I'm lonely. I smoke too much.

I'm dizzy and run into walls.

I've been on meds for about 5 weeks, does this all get better? Should I try a different med?

Yes, Cathy it will get better.  Meds are always a problem for bipolars at times.  We all know that. You have only been on these meds for a short time.  Talk to your doctor about whatever is troubling you re: meds.

You and I are on the same page when it comes to having problems this time of year.  The time changes in spring and fall and many of us have minor mood swings.  I know I do.

Why are you paying $50 for a dr. appt.?  It seems absurd.  But then, many of us have some of the same problems.  I sure do.  Maybe Obama will help us with some of these issues.

I am a smoker, many people with disabilities smoke.  It's a larger number than in the community at large.

Judy, Thank you for responding. You make me feel like a member of this community more than any other. I appreciate you. I have to pay $50 for the MISSED appt. Which seems unfair cause we're all psych patients, and we all have problems with confusion.... but I guess it is how they keep people from missing their appts. I was wondering if it was just me, who is having problems with the time change... It seems to really mess with me, and ppl keep saying, "It's only an hour"!... But it seems much more than an hour to me. It feels like days and days are missing. Maybe it IS just me? Anyway, thanks for responding.... you are such a good friend! ~Cathy >^..^<

season change & time change has me all in a bother these days

it takes me quite a bit to get it all worked out

I have to check my calendar nearly everyday just to know which day it is and where I was yesterday - course it could also be the Topamax :)

psych patients (me being one) are notorious for missing appointments for a whole slew of reasons and because of that - a lot of pdocs charge for a missed appointment.

may seem unfair but, to understand...

1) you set an appointment thereby taking a slot in his/her schedule

2) you no-showed thereby creating a void in his/her schedule that was sudden

3) another patient who could've been seen, wanted to be seen, or would've shown could've had your slot if you had cancelled ahead of time

So... in order to discourage you from just not showing, you get hit with a financial penalty cause the doc didn't get paid for that time allotted to you and another patient couldn't have that time cause it was set for you

Local community MH centers do not typically do this (some do but typically don't due to the population they serve) but, the private practice sector generally does.

Also, a lot of other medical practices do this too.

Going to the Dr. tomorrow and asking for another drug. Maybe lamictal. I'm sick of Abilify. I stopped taking it for a few days and I went psycho. Got back on it at the behest of my husband, so now will talk to Dr.

Thank you for responding.
