A Candle at Midnight: Keeping Vigil as a Path Through Depression

Also, WHO CARES? same author
I think these two books make a powerful contribution, especially for bipolar personalities, who can be so intense and introspective, sometimes wrestling with unanswerable questions more than is necessary?
The first book is an interesting Christian (she's a nun) look at depression and where it fits into God's plan or goodness. A tough question for me all my life. I know all the pat answers, but I STILL get mad and call myself a lazy bum. The second is a very direct book on how to be a more caring person--this was a major point in my life, because I alwawys felt incredibly ISOLATED and so DIFFERENT that I never felt like anyone could connect with me or that I could connect with anyone. This book takes some time to look at who to care for and how to care and emphasizes simple, and cheap ways to open up. It still amazes me how much impact I can have by reaching out when I never thought anyone would evver notice me. It gives me something positive to think about myself, or better, it gives me relief from thinking about myself.
