Seasonal affective disorder

With the change of the seasons and the days getting shorter I cant help but feel the depression setting in. No matter what medications I take or increases I recieve nothing seems to help, this means only one thing seasonal affective disorder is kicking in. My question is how many other bipolars suffer from this illness and how do you all cope? Any feed back will surely be helpful.

fear of genetics

My wife and I are expecting our first child in late September. We both are very exicted as we have been waiting for this mircale for a year and a half. My biggest fear is that my child will get my mental illness traits and also my additive traits. I would not wish either one of those on my worse enemy nevermind having the chance of passing it to my own child. I am just wondering what the chances are for passing this on.

compassion

I am a college student and was saddened yesterday to hear that one of my fellow classmates is battling alcoholism and perhaps has a mental illness that I am not aware of. Let's call him Steve. Steve has masters in economics and a degree in English. He is a very intelligent man. Last semester he missed a few days due to his drinking, but not has many as he has already missed this semester. I was informed that he had withdrawn from school. I...

We are the sane one living in a insane world

I don't know about anyone else but I am so sick and tired of hearing all the negativity that people with a mental illness gets from the news, paper, on the web or around the water cooler at work. I always hear the same old stuff about people with mental illness causing havoc in their state or city. It seems that all the media wants is stories and headlines with crimes committed by people with some sort of mental illness. There is some sort...
