Hi,

My boyfriend was diagnosed about a year ago.  I understand that everyone is different, but I would like to know how long it usually takes to find the right drugs or combination of drugs.  Nothing seems to work so far.  It has gotten so bad that he has been in the hospital 16 times in the last 6 months.  Every time it seems that they tweek his meds, get him stable, and let him out.  He is out for about a week, sometimes less, and he becomes suicidal again and goes right back in.  It is really hard because sometimes he feels like his life is going to be like this forever and that nothing will work for him. I would hate to think that this is how he will have to live the rest of his life.
