Well CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Reminds me of a funny true story

I worked in the office of my local MH center and one day 2 therapists were discussing a client.  One therapist was telling the other that this particular client had been her client for over 10 years and he had finally gotten to where he didn't need her anymore.

At that, I looked up and without missing a beat said "So Anne, you actually cured one huh?  I didn't think you therapists ever actually cured anyone."

Needless to say, she didn't find this funny and actually shot me a very angry look.

Congrats indeed

I laughed when I saw the "recovered from" category choice when I signed up, as everything I've read says there is no "recovery" from bipolar disorder.  But you consider yourself to be recovered?  I would love to hear more about it.

Congrats on finishing your therapy!

Hello Freeda,

It means for me that after working hard and long in a intensive program at a local hospital in the psychology clinic for 19 years, I have learned everthing about being Bipolar and have not had a relapse in many years because of knowing how to ward off the episodes. Medication and my large box of skills are keeping me well, recovered.

I have become a published writer, a vocalist in my church, and too, singing in a univeristy choir, back to playing instruments. I have gotten out of my absive marriage and learned to live alone, travel and take care of myself. No more being a prisoner  of spells of clincial depressions that confine me to the land of counterpane.

It is possible to be recovered from this illness and have a long and fruitful life. In fact I would not trade my bipolar for anything for it has given me a very high IQ and a incredible creative mind. I am a hot broth of experieces that make and mark me apart from the vast masses. Good luck  with your personal discovery. It is worth the pain and suffering to become well abnd whole.
