Creativity contest

By Eric Saturday, April 05, 2008

As much as I love reading what people have to post in terms of their writing, poetry and art…I feel it has overtaken the boards of where people normally come looking for help, advice and support to help them get through some rough times. I find it hard to wade through the posts looking for these people in need or crisis.

I can’t tell who is in need as I read through the posts…just the other day I read a post that was a cry for help of someone really in need only to get a reply that they were actually doing great and this took place back in 2001.

A much better approach Becky would have been to create a separate area on the site just for the contest for people to post too. I still would have visited that area and read the posts from many very talented people. Too any of you that have yet posted to this contest…do not take this as someone sayings not too post…just the opposite, get in your works of art in to get judged. It is more toward any  future contests of having them in a different area of the site.

Am I the only one that is finding it hard?

Hopefully next time there is a contest or something of this sort, it can have it's own area.

Hi Eric,

hadn't seen you on here for a while, but again it could be exactly what you are talking about, i found myself not looking for the shareposts because it was overwhelmed with creativity contests.....BUT i am very much into submitting to the contest so i am guilty of it tooBlush

however, people are SUPPOSE to put in the subject line CREATIVITY CONTEST heck they even have those words right there under the subject matter,Unsure but like you i find that so many are not doing that and i'm reading something i thought someone was reaching for help and then BOOM they ask for opinion on their creativity contest post...argh.Oh my!...that bothers me too.....I understand your frustration for i like to keep in contact with those that i know need an uplift or need some kind of assistance and oh how i learn from others on this site, i don't want the contest to overtake that for i SURE need it, as you know for we've talked a few times on posts and you've helped me immensly at times.....Wink

perhaps it should go directly to the NAMI website and be entered there??? just a thought and know you don't have control of that, but i will admit i LIKE the contests, i like seeing how bps view the world through art....but i'm an art buff and photography too....so that has kept me silent on this UNTIL NOW tehee....but i am with you eric, there has to be a solution where we can browse the creativity for inspiration or enjoyment and then the areas for help and questions and assistance.....I thank you for putting this on here ....and i concur completely!
hope you've been doing good lately, and that all is well with you and yours, take care

Hi Eric,

This is the first time we've hosted a creativity contest, so it's a learning experience for all of us! I do appreciate your feedback, and you've raised a good point - one that we'll be focusing on over the next few weeks as we continue to roll out enhancements to make the site more navigable and accessible.

As always, thanks for your insight!

Becky
