    Hello Michelle!

I sure wish I could be of more assistance to you than what I can be.  I live in Montana, so I am not familiar with support groups, psychologists, therapists, etc., in the Encino and Los Angeles area.

One thing that might be helpful to you, however, is Googling "The National Empowerment Center".  It is one of about five national technical assistance groups throughout the USA.  I know for a fact that they have a listing of support groups in every state.  Some states don't have statewide support groups, but you could definitely e-mail the NEC, call or write to them.  They could certainly get you started on the right foot.

The National Empowerment Center was founded by, and is run by, people who have been psychiatrically labeled and, therefore, have personal experience with some kind of mental illness.  Many of these folks also have some kind of professional experience in the mental health field, as well.

I wish you the very best in your quest to find people who are caring, compassionate and helpful to you.

Best wishes and big hugs! Big Grin

    Kay
