why if i am taking medication do i still havve horrible days?

i am on all of my medications i take them at the same time every day, i excersise, watch my diet, chart my mood.. but i still have some very depressed days, i dont have any manic days, or any that i notice... but i still get very sad and down on myself... i started college in the fall and i am way to anxious to make new friends so i eat... entering hypomania

My lithium has was increased a few days ago (only been on it for 5 weeks). Today is the first day in a long time I have not thought about death or wanting to die. Now I am entering a hypomanic state and I shall ride this beautiful wave as long as it lasts (which I hope is forever).
