Anyone to provide stories of how they successully got off benzies like Ativan? and what next?

My new psych told me on my first vist that I had to get off Ativan urgently. I have been taking it for about 15 years, first to sleep, then to wore down to allowing me to take the edge off. How do i get past the aguish, helplessness and sadness of my mother? And get on with my life.

How do you know when you're on the right medications? I've been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder for over a year now and I've pretty much stayed on the same meds.
