Q: My thirty-three year son was diagnosed as being bipolar. He was also born with a cleft lip. He has a lot if issues with himself and other people. What part of his issues stem from him being bipolar?

My son has had drug problems in the past and now drinks periodically. When he talks to people it's as if he's talking down to them. He seems to think that most people are stupid and callous. He takes his mood stabilizer but not his anti-depressant.  I want to know if this is symptoms of him being bipolar or other mental issues. Thank you
