I would say yes he does. I was the same way, with my wife, we even split up for a year, due to not knowing I had Bipolar. I would go from happy to sad. From feeling full of energy one min. to wanting to fall on my face the next. Then there where times my wife would say something to me and I just wanted to punch her in the face. When I got on my meds, it controled things, and I was not a bear around her. I can not say that Bipolar does not get the best of me most days.
