I use light therapy and it has been a tremendous addition to the other ways I take care of myself. I use blue light (goLite) originally marketed by Apollo lights. The research for this was done as a part of the Apollo Space program. Previously I had used full spectrum light but at times I think it made me worse.
I have bipolar disorder and a very strong seasonal component with depression in the winter. Now I use the questionnaire on the Apollo website to help me know how much light to use and when. Since light is a potent antidepressant, it is important to use it with a clinician's advice and to continue regular appointments so you catch it early if it triggers mania or hypomania.
