you don't. believe me i've tried. but nothing worked. you have to be on your medication because whats wrong with you is an imbalance in your brain. your seritonin levels are all misfiring and other normal levels are off. that's what causes you to feel depressed. and without medication to correct these things there is no hope of you getting happier. i'm sorry i wish i could say there is another way. but theres not. it is very common for bipolar ppl to stop taking there meds because they don't like the way it makes them feel to not  have highs anymore. but with the highs comes the lows. that is why we need medication so badly. without it we are destine to become depressed and very depressed at that. remember bipolar is extreme points of highs and lows. not just being depressed but being extremely depressed. so hon, please keep on your meds. If you don't like the one you are on tell your doctor why and try another one. it took me several until i found lithium. that was good for me. and i'd also tell him you want to be tested for adhd, because i was wrongly diagnosed i think with bipolar for years then was tested for adhd and found out i was that too. they are very similar in symptoms.  good luck get back on your meds girl!
