Can PMDD be wrongly diagnosed as bp?

OK my mood swings started when i started my periods at 13..suffered severe pms etc for about a year and a half then at age 14 i was put in a psch ward for six weeks where i was put on every kind of drug possible but nothing seemed to help me..i remember everything i went through and it was extremely traumatic except my short term memory is awful so could all those drugs have damaged my system somehow..6 years on i noticed that when i was on the pill i was completely down and boring with zero personality yasmin and noriday both did the same thing. i have been on Lithium all the time yet at the time of the month im completely irrational snappy etc I would like to know if anyone out there thinks im right in thinking that adoloescent and bipolar and pms in girls can be too readily and easily mixed up???Can hormonal imbalances actually be my problem and not be a chemical imbalance at all?i would like to try reducing my meds or stopping completely but its not advisible i know but im 20 and im sick of being called a freak even though im perfectly fine and well..i have a boyfriend now and im so moody a week before and during my period he has started me asking these qs?i don't want to take medication i don't need and if there is hormone tablets or vits that i can take instead then id like to be aware of them instead of bein told no basically by my gp and counsellor and psch doc!i feel normal so why do i have to take the meds?

I was diagnosed with PMDD ten years ago.  Sometimes I wonder if i have bp?  All I know is that for 2 weeks out of the month (if not properly medicated) I am an emotional wreck, a  ranting bitch, an irrational crazy and a loving carefree woman on top of the world.  And this can all be felt within 30 minutes!!!  I am between medicines right now and I'm trying very hard to maintain.  I am 12 years older than you with 3 girls and a great husband (when I can deal).  I don't know what to say...  I think I'll go mow the lawn... try to focus.
