Q: can menopause throw off the effectiveness of the meds(lithuim)?

Wife is menopausal,and bipolar could this throw off the effects of her meds?

Hi. SHort answer is yes - maybe. Hormonal fluctuations represent an added complication to mood cycles and pose additional challenges to treatment. Please have your wife bring up the matter with both her pdoc and her GP and to make sure both docs are talking to each other. Hope this helps -
