MAOI Emsam Patch

Mom of 7
07/03/08

I was in and out of the hospital for 16 months and was being given SSRI's. I had tremendous side effects to all of these medicines to the point where I couldn't leave the hospital. The continued depression and suicide ideations were never gone and I thought life as I knew it was gone to. Finally, as a last resort my inpatient Dr. gave me the newly approved Emsam patch (segeline). It was like a miracle to me!!! Within a few weeks of adjusting the dose I finally felt like the fog of death had lifted and I had no side effects!!!I came home and after the 16 months of not being a part of my family, my house, my friends, I can actually say that it all changed! I felt so good I feel like I picked up where I left off and just continued like I was reborn.

It was a little confusing to everyone especially my husband and children to see the drastic change in me and I know they are very happy but as you know nothing is forever and I know since they have been hurt so much, they are wondering if I will crash again and leave them. I am hoping this will not happen ever again but I can only say that I am living as if I will never crash again. Does anyone else have that same fear? Also is anyone else on the Emsam Patch and do you have any side effects?
