i tried serquel, it took away my drinking desires, but left me very emotionally vulnerable.

im 38, been drinking since i was 12, and had serious problems with holding a job,,,mumbling,its become a joke in the family,,,dont really mind. been diagnosed bi polar 3 times in the last 6 years. i am an alcoholic.  i quit for 2 months when i started seroquel, but emotionally i broke down sometimes in public,,crying and stuff. i stopped taking it. but have asked this dr to put me back on it,,just to try to quit drinking,,,my dr told me im going to die, if i dont start living better,,,

You are too young to be going thru this misery.  Seroquel is a good medication for bipolar if you can handle it.  Seek an Alcoholic Anonymous program where there are people just like you struggling to be well.  Whatever you do seek help with a professional counsilor that can guide you and be supportive.  I too, many years back drank alcohol to self-medicate with for bipolar.  It was not worth it and I would never want to do it over.  I know what you are going thru.  Take Care!
