Weaning myself off medication

Hi,

My fiance and I are getting married next month. I am slowly weaning myself off my medication. I feel terrible. What kinds of side effects should I expect?

Whatever you do don't take yourself off your medication. I have had Bipolar since 1998. I took myself off the meds and all the emotions ca,e back even worst. If you love your fiance enough to marry him for his sake stay on the meds. Trust me I know. I am on Seroquel 300mg, Lamictal 100 mg, Zoloft 50 mg all this once a day at bedtime.

Shannon,

I completely agree with Joyce.  You dont want to be a science project - particularly before the wedding... Why do you want to stop the meds?  What kind of meds are you weaning off from?  How long have you been taking them? Have you discussed this with the doc?

I once thought my diagnosis was completely wrong and took it upon myself to all wean off of the meds too. Big mistake.  I dont remember the details because I was in a major funk.  Dont you want to have a wonder wedding and honeymoon?   I truly hope you'll think this over carefully - the symptoms of our illness can be unpredictable when we start tinkering with our meds without supervision.

Good luck to you

did your doctor say it was ok? If not stay on them! If your not sure they are helping you get a second opinion from a doctor. But stay on your meds!
