Q: Teeth, and gum problems from meds.

Hi all, I've been having some gum problems, and teeth problems that I never had before starting meds a few years ago. I know it is probably from dry mouth. I am petrified of dentists, and only go when I have to. Does anyone else have these problems? I had to take extra clonazepam just to go get a tooth fixed yesterday. I thought I was going to hyperventilate, and I kept having a hard time swallowing, as well as total anxiety of course too!!!

Don't know what kind of medication you are on that causes dry mouth.  I know there are a number of medications out there that do this but I would suggest chewing sugarfree gum alot and possibly keeping a glass of water by your bedside.  If this continues I would think about changing medications.

I used to not be able to catch my breath when at the dentist office.  I overcame it as I continued going to the dentist.  It is a trained behavior.  Good Luck!
