Q: are people with bi polar more prone to do drugs.

my son is a herion addict. I believe he uses to control his symptoms. but i also had a brother who was diagnosed as schizoprenic so I'm a little confused on what to think. I'm pretty sure there is more to his problems than the depression and aniexty

I don't know if there is an actual answer to this question, but I went through many drug addictions growing up and I've always wondered the same thing. I always just thought that since bipolar people are more likely to take risks thats why I did it. I can't answer your question, but if it helps, I had the same problem and can't say that I'm over it now.
